Highlights from the latest set of results showed a single hole returned 2.8 metres at 19.5 grams per ton (g/t) gold from between 42 and 45 metres, including 0.7 metres at 70.3 g/t gold.

An additional hole returned results that indicate the presence of at least three high grade veins, including 0.5 metres at 9.1 g/t gold from nearly 100 metres and 0.6 metres at 14.8 g/t gold from 130.9 metres.

Previous drilling at Morro da Lua confirmed the presence of multiple high-grade veins at depth as well as the continuation of high-grade mineralization at depth. The company expects further drilling will be required to establish the vertical and lateral continuity of the high-grade veins.

"We are very pleased with the high-grade drill results from Morro da Lua which add to very compelling high-grade intercepts recently released from the Machichie, Machichie East and Seis Irmaos targets,” said Alan Carter, president and CEO of Cabral Gold. “All four of these targets had no previous drilling and further highlight the excellent high-grade potential of the Cuiú Cuiú project.”

The Vancouver-based company also released results from the Jerimum Cima target that highlighted a broad low-grade gold zone.

Carter said additional drilling will be required to determine the size and grade of these new discoveries, together with the high-grade zones at the Central and MG deposits, where there are almost 60 historic drill intercepts above 10g/t gold.

Encouraging results

The junior gold explorer recently released results from the Machichie target on the project, where channel sampling resulted in 9.5 metres at 5.3 grams per ton (g/t) gold, including 1.5 metres at 30.8 g/t gold.

A second sample taken 100 metres further east returned 0.75 metres at 22.1 g/t gold, extending the high-grade zone at Machichie by at least 180 metres, bringing the strike length to over 450 metres.

Cabral’s Cuiú Cuiú has a resource 5.9 million tons grading 0.9 g/t gold of Indicated and 19.5 million tons grading 1.2 g/t gold Inferred, or 0.2 million ounces and 0.8 million ounces of gold, respectively.

At the Machichie target on the project, channel sampling resulted in 9.5 metres at 5.3 grams per ton (g/t) gold, including 1.5 metres at 30.8 g/t gold.

A second sample taken 100 metres further east returned 0.75 metres at 22.1 g/t gold, extending the high-grade zone at Machichie by at least 180 metres, bringing the strike length to over 450 metres.

As part of the drill program at Cuiú Cuiú, a tenth target was added that has never been previously drilled. A total of around 2,400 metres or 18 holes were drilled at ten targets over the Morro de Lua target. Cabral said in a statement that results are expected in the next few weeks.

Recent drill results from Machichie showed one target that included 3.4 metres at 36.9 g/t gold and 2.1 metres at 15.3 g/t gold.

Machichie is 500 metres north of the MG deposit, which is currently the second-largest known gold deposit at Cuiú Cuiú.

"The new surface results were collected up to 180m east of the nearest drill holes and confirm the extension of a very high-grade structure at Machichie which is surrounded by a lower grade envelope,” said Cabral’s president and CEO Alan Carter in a statement.

“The expansion of the strike length by 65%, and the fact that the zone remains open in terms of width, depth and along strike, suggests that Machichie could host a significant high-grade deposit. Further drilling is required to determine the full extent and continuity of the mineralized zones.”

Cabral’s Cuiú Cuiú has a resource 5.9 million tons grading 0.9 g/t gold of Indicated and 19.5 million tons grading 1.2 g/t gold Inferred, or 0.2 million ounces and 0.8 million ounces of gold, respectively.

Results are pending on six additional targets.

Shares of Cabral Gold traded at C$0.16 in Toronto and US$0.13 on OTC markets.

The mining firm has also excitingly reviewed high grade historic drill assays from the MG and Central deposits at the project, which will be incorporated into future studies and work.

At the beginning of this year, Cabral selected nine high grade targets at Cuiú Cuiú and results have already been released from the Machichie and Machichie East targets, which returned up to 3.4m (meters) at 36.9 g/t (grams per ton) gold.

READ: Cabral Gold shares advance on more promising drill results from Brazil project

Today's assays come from the third and fourth targets, while results are pending on five other targets.

"We continue to be encouraged by the drill results from the reconnaissance drill program at Cuiú Cuiú and look forward to receiving the results on the remaining targets that were tested as part of the reconnaissance drill program, which commenced in January 2019, said Alan Carter, president and CEO.

"In addition, our detailed review of the historic drill data has revealed a number of discrete high-grade zones within the lower grade mineralized envelopes at both the Central and MG deposits which lend further support to the presence of numerous high grade zones at Cuiú Cuiú."

The firm has now drilled at what's called the Seis Irmaos (Six Brothers) target, which is around 300m (meters) south of the MG deposit, which is one of two main deposits currently known at Cuiú Cuiú (the other is Central).

A single hole there (CC187-19) tested an E-W (east-west) magnetic low, which lies less than 300m south of MG and hit 0.7m (meters) at 12.7 g/t (grams per ton) gold in a quartz vein with strong pyritic alteration from 62 to 62.7m depth.

Three recent holes

Meanwhile, at three recent holes at the MG target, only one hit significant mineralization, said Cabral, returning 40.9m at 0.8 g/t gold from between 101.4 and 142.3m. That intercept included 10.1m at 1.4 g/t (grams per ton) gold from 101.4 to 111.5m.

From 2006 to 2012, Magellan Minerals Ltd (Magellan) evaluated the bulk-tonnage gold potential of the Cuiú Cuiú property and cut abundant high-grade gold intercepts displaying grades and widths typical of many operating underground deposits, said Cabral.

But these high-grade results were not targeted in the former drill programs, said the firm.

Cabral has now launched a full review of all available data to re-evaluate the high-grade potential of both MG and Central in a bid to design an appropriate drill program to delimit the high-grade mineralization and incorporate the results into future resource estimates and economic studies.

The assays are part of a larger 20-hole reconnaissance drill program and come on the heels of initial results from the nearby Machichie target, which like Machichie East, was never previously drilled.

The wider drill program is aimed at testing nine separate high-grade gold targets.

READ: Cabral Gold awaiting drill assays from Machichie target in Brazil; hails sample from Quebra Bunda

Notably, at Machichie East, a single hole was completed to a depth of 250.5m, which hit 15.9m (meters) at 1.73 g/t (grams per ton) gold from 79m.

That intercept included 0.5m at 21.3 g/t (grams per ton) gold from 86.5m and 1m at 10.3 g/t gold from 91.4m associated with strong silica-pyrite alteration and quartz-pyrite vein zones.

The firm said this new zone lies 400m north-east of the recently discovered Machichie zone and is interpreted to be a different structure.

Significantly also higher silver, tungsten, copper and molybdenum values were also noted from the drill hole at Machichie East, which may suggest closeness to a concealed intrusive source, said Cabral.

Drilling has been completed on three further targets including at MG (three holes completed), 6 Irmaos (one hole sunk) and Quebra Bunda (one hole) and results are all pending.

The total number of targets tested as part of this initial drill program is now five and drilling is currently in progress at the sixth target Jerimum Cima, which has had some previous drilling.

Historic hole

A historic hole at Jerimum Cima hit 9m at 5.1g/t (grams per ton) gold and the current program will follow up on this intercept. Assay results from these holes are pending.

"... the drill results from Machichie East demonstrate the presence of another previously unknown mineralized structure at Cuiú Cuiú which will require further drilling," said Alan Carter, president and CEO of Cabral.

"These results come soon after the recently announced Machichie discovery located 400m to the south-west. We have now intersected two previously unknown high-grade structures from the first two targets of this initial reconnaissance drill program and look forward to results from the seven additional targets that will be tested as part of this drill program."

Cabral shares in Toronto added 4.76% to $0.22.

Jamie Keech, Founder & CEO, Ivaldi Venture Capital

Sean Kingsley, Vice President, Corporate Development, Cabral Gold

They’re young. They’re powerful. And that wave of power is growing – quickly.

Meet the millennial investor. Now, the catch: getting them interested in investing in the mining and metals industry. It’s a relatively untapped investor demographic, on the back of a tough half-decade in the space.

But the potential for opportunity is growing, and this group of investors is demanding more of the industry: from more connectivity to increased transparency (and beyond).

Proactive spoke to three up-and-coming millennials who are helping push the space forward.

Tell me a bit about your background. How did you get involved in the mining industry?

AN: I began my professional career as a financial auditor while simultaneously completing the Chartered Professional Accountant designation. Later, I transitioned to investment banking, joining Dundee Securities, which recently became Dundee Goodman Merchant Partners, a mining-focused merchant bank. The clientele and deals I’ve been involved with have always exclusively been mining.

JK: I’m a mining engineer. I’ve worked in a variety of places: Albania, Hong Kong, Mongolia, Baffin Island and have had a lot of different jobs on the technical side. In Vancouver, I worked primarily with a small management team that built a company that is called Equinox Gold. I left about a year ago to start my own venture: it’s called Ivaldi Venture Capital. We also run an investment research service called Resource Insider. We’re focused on deploying capital into mining and metals projects. We’ve done several deals over the last year, ranging between $1 million to $3 million.

SK: My family has lived in Vancouver for over 125 years – we are one of the oldest Chinese families here so being a part of a legacy has always driven my interests into building something long-lasting. There’s nothing more constant than the need for minerals in the world. I’ve been hooked in the industry for over 12 years and plan to be for as long as I live. I currently do corporate communications and development for two Brazilian-focused junior companies.

We’ve moved from a landscape dominated by resource exploration/development companies to one that now includes a major cannabis presence and increasing prominence of tech stories. How do you look at this new environment and what appear to be the challenges?

JK: When it comes to mining, younger investors haven’t really had the chance to come into the space. I’m a millennial and during the last bull market, I was 24. I didn’t have any money to spend and most 24-year-olds are in that same situation. There hasn’t been much interest in mining since that time because there hasn’t been much opportunity to be interested. That money has gone to the cannabis space, the crypto space: these are industries that millennials are able to relate to very easily because people smoke cannabis and people grew up on the Internet.

AN: What’s going to get millennials interested in mining is a broad commodity bull market in the resource space. Most millennials aren’t familiar with the wealth creation the resource space can offer and have recently been attracted to high flying sectors such as cannabis, cryptocurrency, and blockchain, until the financial hangover set in.

A recent resource example were the parabolic moves in lithium and cobalt which was due to the electric vehicle trend. This was very engaging for millennials who can understand Tesla and lithium-ion batteries in their cellphones. Many of my friends who are not resource professionals would be talking about these commodities as a reaction to the rising share prices and they wanted a piece of the action.

SK: Alternative companies and sectors outside of mining have done well to get their stories and opportunities out to a new wave of investors, millennials. Ten years ago, you wouldn’t see my generation investing in stocks yet now they all have brokerage accounts.

It’s now up to us as an industry to capture their attention through avenues that they could relate to and not just the stories of how the industry titans like mining billionaires Robert Friedland and Ross Beatty got their investors and themselves very rich. We need to teach millennials that mining is the most constant sector and has tremendous upside and applications through avenues such as video, virtual reality, social campaigns, and telling stories that would resonate and engage their curiosity and understanding of the resource sector. It is time for our industry to innovate, rejuvenate and disrupt how it once was.

Gold and silver have long been a primary focus for investors in the mining space but new market segments, such as battery metals, have the potential to attract a different type of investor. What do you think about this?

JK: I think it’s happened. The energy metals sector, be it lithium, cobalt, vanadium, has done a very admirable job of piggybacking on the tech industry. Elon Musk has inadvertently become one of the most successful mining promoters in history. There’s been a demand and companies have done an impressive job of tying their product into something people care about, as compared to mining.

SK: There is money to be made in these new segments. I’ll take us back to 2006-2008 when the craze in the sector was rare earth metals. Unfortunately, China came in and flooded the market with supply and that quickly stopped the demand, but the run-up saw investors making money. Come 2011, it was all about graphite and graphene. Again, the market got flooded but investors made money. Here we are, now comes energy metals: cobalt, lithium, vanadium. Yes, these battery metals are desperately needed as we revolutionize the way we live and do things and investors will make money, but these run-ups are not constant like precious metals gold and silver.

AN: From a market observation, most battery metals such as lithium and cobalt are very small markets, each approximately sub-US$10 billion relative to gold and copper, which are around US$100 billion-plus. It doesn’t take much capital to move these smaller markets and those are trades that you need to get in and get out of within a 12 to 24 month timeframe. A lot of those companies are speculation, rather than investments. The point is, if you want to speculate in these small markets, make sure you have impeccable timing.

What is the entry point to getting a millennial investor to begin researching a mining stock? How do you get them interested in the first place and what feedback have you had from this generation of investors?

JK: I think about this a lot. In other industries there are influencers. It’s not a coincidence that Kylie Jenner’s makeup company is a billion-dollar company. It has nothing to do with the quality of the product, it has to do with her persona. There are not a lot of young influencers within the mining industry. There are a few people my age (30s) and there are a lot of people in their 60s.

There’s a gap and I think we need more public-facing influencers – letter writers, CEOs, leaders in the industry of any type that can generate interest – and that will bring them into the industry. That said, influencers have to get the timing right. If there’s not money to be made, no one is going to care.

When I think about mining, there’s an adventure aspect to it: there’s travel to exotic locations and we know millennials are the best-travelled generation yet. This is an aspect that can engage people and enable them to see the potential in the space. That’s what’s going to bring investors in. It’s a multi-step process. You need an interesting story, you need the potential to make money, and you need public facing personas that people trust.

SK: For me, it’s got to be about the tremendous upside in value creation and I often point to the discovery phase of the Lassonde Curve chart which outlines the life of mining companies beginning at exploration and ending in production, showing value that the market attributes to each stage.

Once millennials really start to understand that everything in the world is only possible with the minerals that we discover and mine and of what opportunities that creates for our generation will they realize the endless possibilities and upside potential of the sector.

AN: There’s a massive opportunity here to shift the way millennials look at investing in mining. Millennials are now the largest generation in Canada, but are the least invested in stocks, but are the most likely to participate in an online financing. Recently, I received a shell opportunity in my inbox. I passed but another millennial I know subscribed. To partake only required 5 minutes and was a very simple process. The company raised 324% over their targeted funding and brought in 201 investors in a matter of six days. This is one of the major platforms I believe will be used to complete resource financings with millennial investors.

The assays announced Thursday come from six reconnaissance holes from the target, which has never previously been drilled, and a highlight intercept was 3.4m (meters) at 36.9 g/t (grams per ton) gold including 0.7m at 162.7 g/t gold in one hole.

This first phase of diamond-drilling is part of a larger 20-hole reconnaissance program designed to test nine separate high-grade gold targets.

Machichie was selected as a priority target following the identification of high-grade gold mineralization from shallow artisanal shafts in mid-2018.

It lies just 500 meters north of the MG deposit, which is currently the second largest gold deposit known at Cuiú Cuiú, with an inferred resource of 8.6MMt (million tonnes) at 1.45 g/t gold.

Open along strike and at depth

The intersection above is from a hole targeting a north-east (NE) trending structure, coincident with a NE-trending magnetic low. The structure remains open along strike and to depth.

The other five holes tested the E-W (east-west) trending Machiche magnetic-low. Highlight assays here included 2.1m (meters) at 15.3 g/t gold and 0.5m (meters) at 20.2 g/t gold. Another hole showed 0.6m (meters) at 10 g/t (grams per ton) gold.

Shares surged over 24% to $0.28.

Six diamond holes have so far been completed at Machichie, and results are pending, the Vancouver-based firm said in a statement.

Surface sampling has returned values of 52.5 g/t (grams per ton) gold over 0.9m and 23.8 g/t gold over 1.35m. The targeted structures Cabral is focusing on having never been drill tested.

READ THE DEEP DIVE: Cabral Gold starts drilling at Cuiú Cuiú gold project

Drilling has now moved to the Machichie East target where a significant Cu-Mo-Au (copper, molybdenum, gold) anomaly has been identified from a program of shallow auger drilling.

Meanwhile, the Quebra Bunda target lies 1km to the north of Cabral's MG resource at Cuiú Cuiú, adjacent to the north-west trending Tocantinzinho Lineament where the company has recently defined several new high-grade gold targets from rock chip and channel sampling programs.

Notably, a composite rock chip sample from here returned an impressive 3,727 g/t (grams per ton) gold (119.8 ounces per ton) from a shear zone.

This represents the highest-grade sample ever returned from either surface rock chip geochemical sampling or diamond drill programs at Cuiú Cuiú.

"We are encouraged by the drilling thus far at Cuiú Cuiú and the initial Machichie target and look forward to receiving the drill results," said Alan Carter, the president and CEO of Cabral.

"The recent results from the Quebra Bunda target, which is located 1km north of the Moreira Gomes deposit, also highlight the prospectivity of the E-W structural trends at Cuiú Cuiú and add further credence to the potential for high-grade mineralization associated with prominent E-W trends observed in the geophysical data".

“I do this because I love it. I wake up at 4 am thinking about it,” says the CEO of Cabral Gold and geologist, who stacks together three decades of experience in minerals exploration (Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton, Peregrine) and was the founder of Magellan Minerals, which was acquired by Anfield Gold in May 2016.

“I’m always thinking about a particular drill hole on the project or perhaps that these samples represent something else, and on and on,” says Carter. “I really do eat, sleep and breathe it.”

Enthusiasm is one thing but so is experience: Carter bunkers both.

There are no idle hands right now, to put it mildly, as Cabral embarks on a drilling program at the Cuiú Cuiú (pronounced coo-yoo coo-yoo) project. The company is testing nine separate high-grade targets and is currently in the midst of testing the Machiche target.

“Machiche is an interesting target because it lies just 500 metres north of the second-largest deposit at Cuiú Cuiú,” says Carter. “We have combined resources of about a million ounces at Cuiú Cuiú, which includes inferred and indicated material.”

Carter says the historical production of placer gold in the target area is an estimated 2 million ounces, adding that it estimates the 85-90% of the gold that was washed out of the streams is coming from other sources: sources that Cabal believes are very close to its existing deposits.

Machiche target promising

Machiche has never been tested before, and appears to be promising.

Carter says the Machiche target has a significant copper-molybdenum signature, which makes it unique among the 20 to 30 targets at Cuiú Cuiú.

“The interesting thing about it is it’s not just a geochemical response that we’re getting with the surface sampling work we’re doing, but it’s also a geophysical response,” says Carter.

“There is a very strong chargeability anomaly, which suggests that the ground underneath where we’re getting the copper and the [molybdenum] has some minerals associated with it that are chargeable,” he adds. “We think that there is a strong likelihood that it may be caused by disseminated sulphides.”

Cabral will be testing that target and others over the next few weeks.

The rapidly developing Tapajos region

Cabral Gold’s Cuiú Cuiú project lies in the fascinating Tapajos region: rich with history, and ripe with possibility.

The Tapajos region was the site of the world’s largest ever gold rush between the mid-1970s and mid-1990s and is estimated to have produced 20-30mln/oz of placer gold. Cuiú Cuiú itself was the largest of these placer areas and is estimated to have yielded 2mln/oz of gold from streams, but the source for much of that gold is yet to be identified. The Tapajos region covers 125,000 sq/km in the Amazon basin, which includes farmland, rainforest and wetlands.

It’s also a region attracting plenty of exploration capital in Brazil – a country where mining is at the heart of the nation’s economy and has been since the 1600’s. Today, Brazil is the world’s 12th largest producer of gold in the world.

Good neighbours

And yet, there are challenges too. The area surrounding Cuiú Cuiú is a remote area of the Amazon. Access is via a series of dirt roads, which presents a number of issues: rain and access to power, being others.

Thankfully, those challenges look reasonable to overcome.

Cabral Gold’s Cuiú Cuiú project is flanked to the south-east by neighbours Eldorado Gold, which constructed a new 70 km road to its Tocantinzinho project, from the BR-163 highway. In May of this year, Eldorado was granted a construction licence and tailings permits (though what it does with them remains to be seen). Additionally, new hydroelectric power plants are being planned for the region.

Future looks promising

At the end of November, Cabral closed the first tranche of its private placement financing for gross proceeds of C$1.86 million through the issuance of 7.45 million common shares. Funds are being used to complete the diamond drill program at its Cuiú Cuiú property.

So what lies ahead?

Cabral will continue its drilling program at Cuiú Cuiú, with results expected over the next few months

Carter says he remains confident in the potential to grow its resource, based off the strength and scale of the gold-in-soil anomaly, the high grades returned, not to mention the rich history of the area.

“Over the next two to three months, we expect to be doing a lot more drill testing,” says Carter.

Drill results should be coming through starting next month, and Carter adds that there will be a lot of drilling going on alongside surface exploration over the next few months

Needless to say, it’s going to be a busy 2019 for Cabral Gold.

The holes traced quartz veins around 50m (meters) vertically below the base of artisanal workings and samples are about to be sent for analysis.

Meanwhile, new assays from surface samples collected late in 2018 along strike from these artisanal workings included a grab sample of 356g/t (grams per ton) gold, 198 g/t silver, 1% copper and 0.1% molybdenum, collected from stockpiles at the principal shaft.

The Machichie target lies just 500m (meters) north of the MG deposit, which is currently the second largest gold deposit known at Cuiu Cuiu, with an inferred resource of 8.6 million tonnes at 1.45g/t (grams per ton) gold.

"The recent surface channel sampling results and the auger geochemical target suggest the presence of a significant mineralized structure to the immediate north of the MG deposit," said Alan Carter, the president and CEO of Cabral.

He added that the presence of higher copper and molybdenum values, along with the gold, is unique so far amongst the various targets at Cuiu Cuiu.

"The diamond drill campaign will add valuable information regarding the depth projection of the Machichie structure and the significance of the copper-molybdenum-gold signature at Machichie East. We look forward to the drill results of the program," said Carter.

It has registered for a licence via what's called an economic development plan (PAE), according to guidelines set out by the Brazilian government mining department.

Cabral has been busy working on permitting in recent years.

A request for terms of reference for an Environmental Impact study on two tenements was submitted to the State Environmental Agency (SEMAS) and was approved and published in April this year, followed by the mobilization of field teams to site.

"The registration of the revised PAE application is an important milestone in the permitting process for the Cuiú Cuiú project and together with the ongoing EIA-RIMA study, has comprised a significant part of the 2018 work program," Alan Carter, president and chief executive at Cabral, told investors.

"I would like to personally congratulate our team in Brazil which is led by Ruari McKnight, on excellent progress with respect to the permitting process".

At the tail end of last month, the firm revealed it had identified a strong gold anomaly at the project, which represents a priority target to test for extensions to the central deposit.

The drilling showed a broad gold anomaly well outside the current resource of the central deposit at the Cuiu Cuiu mine and extends 250 meters in a north-south direction, a company statement said.

"The position represents a priority target to test for extensions to the central deposit," Cabral Gold said.

The main central deposit is estimated to contain 485,000 oz of gold.

"The current follow-up program was designed to test for the extension of the mineralized corridor to the southeast," the company added.

There are drill intercepts in six other targets outside of the existing main area. There are several additional areas of surface-fold mineralization have recently been identified and preliminary results are pending, the company said on its website.

Cabral Gold is a Vancouver-based company whose key asset is the Cuiu Cuiu project in Brazil.

<![CDATA[News - Cabral Gold enthused after a peek "under the covers" at Cuiu Cuiu ]]> https://ca.proactiveinvestors.com/companies/news/202620/cabral-gold-enthused-after-a-peek-under-the-covers-at-cuiu-cuiu-202620.html Cabral Gold Inc (CVE:CBR) has revealed why it sometimes to pay a little deeper.

It said it has identified stockwork-style mineralization at the Vila Rica discovery at the Cuiu Cuiu project in Brazil that previously were thought to be not worth bothering with.

The company has been following the lead of artisanal workers in the area and as a result has discovered that large areas of the project are covered by a thin veneer of sedimentary material that was deposited after the gold mineralization was formed.

Cabral's president and chief executive, Alan Carter, told Proactive Investors that this means large areas of the project are “effectively masked by these sediments”.

READ Cabral Gold hails high-grade mineralisation found at Machichie area at Cuiú Cuiú

Carter said workers had opened “a window down through the sediments into the underlying bedrock”.

What the artisanal workers uncovered was a gold-bearing vein and stockwork-style mineralization within saprolite (highly weathered bedrock) in the Vila Rica area.

Further studies identified this cover sequence as young, unconsolidated, lake clays and channel sands and gravels that unconformably overlie primary gold mineralization within the older granite saprolite.

The recognition of this widespread cover sequence opens the door for detection of additional buried vein and stockwork style systems in areas that had previously been downgraded due to the lack of a surface soil anomaly, Cabrol said.

Cabral has commenced an auger drilling program to test for base-of-cover/top-of-saprolite gold anomalism, with past surface soil geochemistry now thought to be ineffective over large areas due to the extent of transported cover.

“The Vila Rica program has given us our first indication of just how extensive the transported cover sequence is at Cuiu Cuiu, and the potential for this cover to conceal vein and stockwork style gold mineralization,” Carter told investors.

“The identification of stockwork style mineralization, as well as higher grade mineralization at Vila Rica, is a characteristic of the other four deposits with resources thus far identified at Cuiu Cuiu, but perhaps more exciting is the recognition of new targets under post-mineral transported cover identified through reprocessing of the magnetic data. It may well be that the best targets are yet to come as we commence our evaluation of these newly defined trends," he added.

The newly discovered Machichie area hosts structures, which extend at least 300m and lie along an easterly trend, around 500m north of the firm's MG deposit - one of four deposits with defined resources at Cuiú Cuiú.

These latest results could improve the economic prospects of MG, Cabral said.

READ THE BIG PICTURE: Cabral Gold continues ambitious surface exploration program at Cuiu Cuiu gold project

Excitingly, a grab sample from the area returned an impressive 336 g/t (grams per ton) gold from a 1m wide quartz-pyrite vein in an artisanal shaft at Machichie.

Meanwhile, channel sample results from western shafts included 54.6 g/t of the yellow metal over 0.80m, 13.2 g/t gold over 0.75m, 13.8 g/t gold over 1.5m and 5.8 g/t gold over 1.75m.

Currently, MG is host to an inferred resource at 8.6 million tonnes at 1.45g/t gold for 0.4mln tonnes of gold.

To date, drilling at MG is wide-spaced and the deposit remains open at depth.

Placer deposits were mined for gold in the Machichie area during the Tapajós gold rush between the late 1970s and the late 1990s.

Cabral noted it began a review of the new Machichie discovery only in April this year.

There are currently at least ten active shafts, four of which are in active production and are developed on vein-hosted gold mineralisation.

The new Machichie discovery area is shaping up to be a primary drill target area for Cabral's initial drill programme planned later this year, Cabral told investors in the regulatory release.

Meanwhile, additional multi-element geochemistry will also be conducted, focusing initially on assessing whether the copper-moly signature can be traced over a broader area.

"The Machichie results are redefining our ideas of the variety of target styles that are yet to be drilled at Cuiú Cuiú," said Alan Carter, president and chief executive at Cabral.

"Past exploration has focused on the lower-grade stockwork-style vein systems.

"These new results highlight the potential of more discrete vein structures with exceptionally high-grades.

"The new processing and review of our geophysical database has added valuable context of interpreted structures correlative with geochemical anomalies which can now be seen to extend from this trend.

"Our next steps are to further screen these targets using auger drilling, and potentially geophysics to complete the definition of drill targets along this newly recognized corridor.

"We look forward to drill-testing the new Machichie discovery later this year".

Cabral shares added over 4% to C$0.25.

The company said recent weathered bedrock sampling by auger drilling and pitting at the Central/Pau de Merenda corridor returned highly anomalous results in both gold counts and geochemical analyses.

"The auger results from the Central - Pau de Merenda corridor area are very compelling and strongly suggest the presence of a significantly larger area of gold mineralization than is suggested by the current resource at Central," said president and chief executive officer, Alan Carter.

Individual top-of-saprolite samples returned peak values of 18.7 grams per ton (g/t) gold. Gold counts in places exceeded 100 per sample

The results show a mineralized corridor extending for a minimum of 4km in a northwest-southeast direction.

The company said the Central deposit, which contains 485,000 ounces, currently occupies the southeastern 1.2km of this 4km long anomaly.

Cabral Gold’s Cuiu Cuiu project is located in the Tapajos region of Brazil. The Tapajos region was the site of the world’s largest ever gold rush between the mid-1970s and mid-1990s and is estimated to have produced 20-30mln/oz of placer gold.

Cuiu Cuiu itself was the largest of these placer areas and is estimated to have yielded 2mln/oz of gold from streams.

"These results come close on the heels of recent high-grade surface rock assay results from the Jerimum Cima target area (see news release of June 19, 2018), which are also located outside the existing resource. I would like to congratulate our exploration team, led by Adrian McArthur, on their continued success, and look forward to additional results from other targets at Cuiu Cuiu in the coming weeks and months."

Issuance of stock options

Cabral has also announced that it has granted stock options to the Executive Chairman of the Company pursuant to its stock option plan. The stock options entitle the holder to purchase 450,000 common shares in the capital stock of the Company at a price of $0.23 per common share. The stock options are exercisable until June 19, 2023, and are subject to vesting over 24 months.

Shares of Cabral were up 11.1% at C$0.25 on Thursday.

At the Morro da Lua target, seven grab samples returned assay results ranging from 5.5 to 162.4 g/t (grams per tonne) gold from stockpiles from separate shafts on vein showings discovered earlier this year.

At Jerimum Cima, channel samples extend the target: including 12.4 metres at 1.9 g/t gold, 1.7 metres at 15.7 g/t gold and 8 metres at 1.1 g/t gold.

These are located up to 200m west of historic drilling and significantly extend the strike extent of Jerimum Cima. All intervals are open in terms of width, and the zone remains open on strike.

New targets discovered

Two new targets were also discovered. The first, Jerimum North was recently discovered 500 metres north of Jerimum Cima. Initial rock grab samples returned 52.1 g/t, 13.0 g/t, and 10.0 g/t gold.

Another new target, Jerimum East, has been discovered 800m east-northeast of Jerimum Cima. It returned a value of 152.6 g/t gold from a single grab sample.

The region has been attracting plenty of exploration capital in Brazil, which is the world’s 12th largest producer of gold.

Shares of Cabral were up 11.63% at C$0.24 on Tuesday.

“I do this because I love it. I wake up at 4 a.m thinking about it,” says the chief executive officer of Cabral Gold and geologist, who stacks together three decades of experience in minerals exploration (Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton, Peregrine) and was the founder of Magellan Minerals, which was acquired by Anfield Gold in May 2016.

“I’m always thinking about a particular drill hole on the project or perhaps that these samples represent something else, and on and on,” says Carter. “I really do eat, sleep and breathe it.”

Enthusiasm is one thing but so is experience: Carter bunkers both.

There are no idle hands right now, to put it mildly, as Cabral embarks on a surface exploration program at Cuiu Cuiu, involving soil sampling, auger sampling, pitting and trenching on at least 12 targets in advance of drilling planned for later this year.

The goal? To prioritize drill targets for later in 2018.

Resource estimate update

In June, Cabral released new numbers, which incorporated 22,000 metres of drilling from 2012 not included in an earlier resource estimate, which was based on 26,000 metres (conducted in 2011). The NI 43-101 report was compiled by Micon International Limited and covers four deposits at the site in the state of Para in the north of Brazil.

It totaled 5.9mln tonnes at 0.9 g/t (grams per tonne) for 171,000 ounces of gold in the higher confidence Indicated category (at a cut-off of 0.35g/t). In the lower confidence Inferred category, it reported 19.5mln tonnes at 1.24 g/t for 776,000 ounces in the inferred category.

Some might look at the numbers and say the findings were slightly more conservative than hoped: but that’s when you need to look more deeply, dig through the numbers and provide some context.

The recent resource estimate was slightly less than the previous estimate, but the important difference was that this estimate included a series of top cuts which is basically a statistical exercise which cuts the actual high-grade gold results from drill holes back to a much lower number, in this case, resulting in a 57% difference in the total ounces of gold reported.

When the numbers are considered, without top cuts imposed, the total number of ounces reported actually increased by 14%, and perhaps, more importantly, the grade increases from 1.20 to 1.71g/t gold.

These numbers should be considered the initial resource estimate, and a minimum number according to Carter.

“We’re confident that the size of this project will increase significantly as we move forward” says Carter. “We have economic drill intercepts which include 39m at 5.1g/t gold and 27m at 6.9g/t gold in at least six other targets areas within an 18km long gold-in-soil anomaly, and have been finding a number of new targets with visible gold on surface which we have not yet drilled.”

In short, beneath the resource-capping lies a simple fact that should not be lost: there is high-grade gold at Cuiu Cuiu.

The rapidly developing Tapajos region

Cabral Gold’s Cuiu Cuiu project lies in the fascinating Tapajos region: rich with history, and ripe with possibility.

The Tapajos region was the site of the world’s largest ever gold rush between the mid-1970s and mid-1990s and is estimated to have produced 20-30mln/oz of placer gold. Cuiu Cuiu itself was the largest of these placer areas and is estimated to have yielded 2mln/oz of gold from streams, but the source for much of that gold is yet to be identified.

The area surrounding Cuiu Cuiu is a remote area of the Amazon. Access is merely one road bump, as many of those kilometres exist in the jungle, which presents a number of issues: rain and access to power, being others.

Thankfully, those challenges look reasonable to overcome.

Cabral Gold’s Cuiu Cuiu project is flanked to the south-east by neighbours Eldorado Gold, which constructed a new 70km road to its flagship project, from the BR-163 highway. In May of this year, Eldorado was granted construction licence and tailings permits (though what it does with them remains to be seen). Additionally, new hydroelectric power plants are being planned for the region.

Future looks promising

So what lies ahead? According to Carter, Cabral’s goal going forward is to not only to outline a large, low-grade gold deposit but also to capitalize on the high-grade gold findings.

Cabral will continue its surface exploration program at Cuiu Cuiu, through soil sampling, auger sampling, pitting and trenching on a dozen targets. Drilling is scheduled to get underway later this year.

Carter says he remains confident in its resource, based off the strength and scale of soil anomaly, the high grades returned, not to mention the rich history of the area.

"We believe that surface trenching and further infill drilling will provide additional data that will likely statistically improve top-end cuts, and as a result add significant additional ounces within the existing deposits as well as along strike,” says Carter.

“In addition, the size of the overall gold-in-soil anomaly (18km) and the fact that we have numerous drill holes with gold outside the current resource auger well for the continued growth of the project.”

The NI 43-101 report was compiled by Micon International Limited and covers four deposits at the site in the state of Para in the north of the country.

It sees 5.9mln tonnes at 0.9 g/t (grams per tonne) for 171,000 ounces of gold in the higher confidence indicated category (at a cut-off of 0.35g/t).

In the lower confidence inferred, it reported 19.5mln tonnes at 1.24 g/t for 776,000 ounces of the yellow metal in the inferred category.

"The 2018 resource estimate is an important fundamental step towards developing an economic platform for the Cuiu Cuiu project," Alan Carter, president and chief executive, told investors.

"We believe that surface trenching and further drilling will provide additional data that will likely statistically improve top-end cuts, and as a result add significant additional ounces within the existing deposits as well as along strike."

Carter pointed out that previous drilling had identified ten mineralized zones at Cuiu Cuiu, for which only four have had sufficient drilling to determine resources, and significant upside exists in all four of the deposits identified so far.

"Furthermore, the recent recognition of new high-grade targets at Cuiu Cuiu also represents a very important step towards improving the overall grade and viability of the project through the potential addition of higher grade resources. These efforts will be prioritized, and tested over the coming months," he added.

The company is currently undertaking an aggressive surface exploration program at Cuiu Cuiu which involves soil sampling, auger sampling, pitting and trenching on at least 12 targets, including Central, MG, JB and Central North.

This is aimed at prioritizing targets for diamond drilling later in 2018.

Today's estimate covers four deposits. These are Central, Moreira Gomes (MG), Central North, and Jerimum de Baixo (JB) and Micon used 51 holes at Central, 35 holes at MG, seven holes at Central North, and 15 holes at JB.

Notably, the Cuiu Cuiu property is contiguous to the northwest of Eldorado Gold Corp's advanced Tocantinzinho gold project.
