A highlight of this year's drill program was the Mina Chica deposit discovery, the resource group noted, adding it hoped this would make an "important contribution" to the overall resource figure.

The most significant intercepts from Mina Chica have included 19.8m (meters) at 46.8% zinc from 1.9m depth, and 49.5m at 38.7% zinc from 7.3m.

The new resource report will be issued under the eye of recently appointed interim CEO Dr Bill Williams, an experienced geologist, who was previously the chief operating officer and a director of the Vancouver-headquartered group.

"... Zinc One is well-positioned to pursue project funding under Dr Williams' guidance," said Greg Crowe, director of Zinc One in October.

So what is the Bongara project?

Zinc One got its hands on the asset when it bought Forrester Metals last year in a one-for-5.5 all-share acquisition.

The mine was discovered in 1974 and various companies have completed exploration programs across the area. Zinc One has access to most of the data and technical work that date back to the 1990s, and was included in the technical report issued in 2016.

The Bongara zinc mine and the associated Charlotte Bongara zinc project are home to zinc oxide mineralisation occurring over a 2.5 km trend, and much of the area has been subject to sampling from pits and trenches, as well as by shallow drilling.

Previous exploration has resulted in a resource of up to 1.2 mln tonnes of oxides grading around 21% zinc, although this is not a number that is compliant with modern NI-43-101 legislation.

Bongara was previously a mine in production (between 2007 and 2008) exploiting high grades at surface (150,000 tonnes mined at over 20%) but was shut down due to the zinc price decline and the global financial meltdown.

The historical measured and indicated resource is around 1.007mln tonnes at 21.61% zinc.

Production via open pit is targeted for 2021 and permitting is on track.

Peru a leader in the mining sector

The South American country, with a growing economy, is the third largest in terms of its zinc reserves and is the second largest producer of the metal on the planet.

Zinc production dates back to the pre-Colonial era and La Oroya, Peru’s first modern zinc refinery, started operations in 1922.

In 2017, Peru produced 1.47 million tonnes of the stuff, up 10.2% from 1.3 million tonnes of the metal in 2016.

It is a mining friendly country with legal and tax regimes designed to support the industry.

Company leveraging the zinc market

Industrial metals are doing well at the moment, buoyed by the apparent cooling of the US-China trade war.

Base metal prices fell by 23.43% in 2015, but in 2016 they rose 26.77%. In 2017, the sector of nonferrous industrial metals was the best-performing commodities sector posting a 21.99% for the year.

So the zinc price has been somewhat volatile but the World Bank has predicted a more stable picture by 2030, when prices are expected to hover around US$1.09 per pound, giving zinc a strong economic forecast and boosting confidence for juniors like Zinc One.

On Friday (November 30) LME zinc over the three-month price soared to US$113 a tonne - the highest since 1997.

The share price

Zinc One shares in Toronto are up 10.53% at $0.105 on Tuesday - up around 10% on the last month - but down from the $0.15 seen around three months ago.

<![CDATA[News - Zinc One Resources set for resource estimate for Bongara zinc project in Peru ]]> https://ca.proactiveinvestors.com/companies/news/210231/zinc-one-resources-set-for-resource-estimate-for-bongara-zinc-project-in-peru-210231.html Zinc One Resources Inc (CVE:Z) has outlined a path towards a first mineral resource for its Bongara zinc project in Peru, where all the data from its 2018 drilling has now been compiled.

The new report, to include the near-surface, high-grade, zinc-oxide mineralization encountered at the Mina Grande, Mina Chica, and Bongarita deposits, is expected to be released in early 2019.

"The most important highlight of our drill program was the discovery of the Mina Chica deposit and we are optimistic that the resource estimate there will make an important contribution to the overall resources," said Dr Bill Williams, chief operating officer and interim CEO.

"The zinc-oxide deposits drilled not only at Mina Chica, but at Mina Grande Norte, Mina Grande Centro, and Mina Grande Sur as well have been delineated in all but one direction in each case, along which upside potential requires further definition drilling.

"Most importantly, the best and longest intercepts did not outcrop, so there remain areas between these deposits that have great potential, especially the 300-metre by 400-metre unexplored area between Mina Grande Norte and Mina Chica."

Significantly, the new resource estimate will be the basis for a preliminary economic assessment expected to be completed late next year.

The Mina Chica discovery, where 53 drill holes have been sunk for over 2,327 meters (m) is an area notable for its lack of vegetation where zinc mineralization outcrops.

The most significant intercepts from the area have included 19.8m at 46.8% zinc from 1.9m depth, and 49.5m at 38.7% zinc from 7.3m.

Looking forward, Zinc One has applied to the relevant authorities for approval to drill 583 holes from 364 platforms along a 1.4km long ridge from Mina Chica to and beyond Mina Grande Sur.

Exploration drilling will be prioritized in favourable settings within areas of low-lying vegetation.

"These Mina Grande Centro results give us a better perspective of the deposit geometry and size," said Bill Williams, the interim CEO of Zinc One.

"After drilling 64 holes for 2,237 meters in this sector, we have outlined the extent of the mineralization not mined to the north, west, and south and demonstrated that high-grade zinc mineralization is open to the northeast and east. We expect this sector to make an important contribution to the overall resource estimate," he added.

Mina Grande Centro is a part of one of the three zones of high-grade, near-surface zinc-oxide mineralization along a 1.4 kilometer mineralized trend that was tested by this drill program.

Zinc One Resources acquires, explores for, and develops mineral properties in Canada, Peru, and Africa. The company is based in Vancouver.

Drilling was focused on the eastern edge of the zone that was mined by the previous operator and west of the high-grade zinc-oxide mineralization outlined by the pit sampling.

Highlight intercepts included up to 39.6 metres of 37.0% zinc from one hole and 14.4 metres of 40.5% zinc from another.

Also announced was 28 meters (m) at 37% zinc and 17.4m at 31.4% of the commodity.

"The numerous high zinc grades associated with the Mina Grande Norte zone are spectacular and exceed our overall expectations for thickness and grade along the western edge of the deposit," said Dr Bill Williams, chief operating officer at Zinc One.

"They delineated the aerial and vertical extent of the high-grade mineralization and will be an important contribution to the upcoming resource estimate.

"The drill results at Mina Grande Norte are very encouraging and reinforce the upside potential of the Bongara project overall."

Zinc mineralization at the Bongara project is classified as a Mississippi Valley-type deposit and is mostly hosted by strongly dolomitized brecciated limestones that are stratabound.

Shares in the resource company added 5.26% to stand at $0.10.

And recent encouraging drill results have added to that cause.

Key among these have been from the Mina Chica zone at the property. This is a high-grade area is around 200 metres long in a NW-SE direction and 120 metres wide and is open to the west.

WATCH: Zinc One Resources' looking to grow its Bongará asset, a 'spectacular gem of a project'

"Results from the drill programme at the Mina Chica zone surpassed our expectations and included a new high-grade zinc discovery," said Jim Walchuck, the president and chief executive, who is targeting the release of the maiden resource in the third quarter this year.

"This is a spectacular exploration success and an excellent addition to the Zinc One story."

So what is the Bongara project?

Zinc One got its hands on the asset when it bought Forrester Metals last year in a one-for-5.5 all-share acquisition.

The Bongara zinc mine and the associated Charlotte Bongara zinc project are home to zinc oxide mineralisation occurring over a 2.5 km trend, and much of the area has been subject to sampling from pits and trenches, as well as by shallow drilling.

Historical exploration threw up a resource of up to 1.2 mln tonnes of oxides grading around 21% zinc, although this is not a number that is compliant with modern NI-43-101 legislation.

Potential of Mina Chica..

In April this year, the firm began to make noises about the potential of the Mina Chica area when it released assays from six holes, which showed as much as 16.5 metres of true vertical thickness with 36.5% zinc in one hole.

Other zones that have been drilled are the Bongarita zone and the Mina Grande Sur. The drillbits at the Mina Grande Centro have now started turning.

Peru a global leader in the mining sector

Peru is the third largest producer of zinc globally and is mining friendly, with legal and tax regimes deigned and supporting the industry. The economy is steadily growing there.

Leveraging the zinc market

The base metal is riding a wave at the moment and is currently at ten year highs of US$1.60 per pound.

It’s the second big price spike since 2000 following record high prices of more than US$2 per pound in late 2006.

The World Bank predicts a more stable picture by 2030, when prices are expected to hover around US$1.09 per pound, giving zinc a strong economic forecast and boosting confidence for junior like Zinc One.

Notably, this high-grade area is around 200 metres long in a NW-SE direction and 120 metres wide and is open to the west.

Zinc One noted that the area has the potential to make a positive impact on the resource estimate at the Bongara Zinc Mine, expected to be released in the third quarter of this year.

"Results from the drill programme at the Mina Chica zone surpassed our expectations and included a new high-grade zinc discovery," said Jim Walchuck, the president and chief executive.

"This is a spectacular exploration success and an excellent addition to the Zinc One story.

"Although the current drill permit precludes further drilling in the zone, there is potential to increase the size of the deposit. The company will submit a drill-permit application to delineate this discovery in the near future."

The results today are the final drill results from the Mina Chica zone, the company said, and include one hole, which drilled 21 meters (14.8 metres true vertical thickness) of 27.5% zinc.

Previously reported intercepts at the zone include 49.5 metres (35 vertical metres) of 38.7% zinc, 39 metres (27.6 true vertical metres) of 27.4% zinc, 19.8 metres of 46.8% zinc, 18 metres of 38% zinc, and 16.5 metres of 35.6% zinc,

In total, 53 drill holes for 2,370.9 metres have been drilled at the site from 18 platforms.

Mina Chica is one of three known zones of high-grade, near-surface zinc-oxide mineralisation along a 1.4km mineralised trend that is being tested by this drill programme.

Drilling at Mina Grande Centro has now begun, the firm noted.

Walchuck said the firm would use surface sampling as its primary targeting methodology to confirm and test the other prospective areas at the Bongara Zinc mine project for the next round of drilling.

At this time, he noted, the company has only tested a relatively small portion of the 6km mineralised trend.

Zinc One Resources Inc shares were unchanged on Thursday at C$0.24.

This area is one of three known zones of high-grade, near-surface zinc-oxide mineralization along a 1.4km trend that is being tested.

Significant new intercepts include 11.2 metres of 24.7% zinc, from 1.8 metres drill depth in one hole.

Another threw up 5.5 metres of 25.0% zinc, from surface, while an assay from a further hole showed 4.5 metres of 36.1% zinc, from surface.

"These results from the completed drill programme at Mina Grande Sur continue to demonstrate that the Bongara Zinc Mine project is an exceptional zinc-rich deposit," said Jim Walchuck, the president and chief executive of Zinc One.

"We fully expect that the data collected from Mina Grande Sur will become part of the upcoming resource calculation for the entire project.

"While we wait for the remaining results from Mina Grande Sur, the drill programme will be focused on the Mina Grande Centro zone, where drilling has now commenced, and then continue in the Mina Grande Norte zone."

It's a busy period for the group.

Last week, it said it had extended the recently discovered high-grade zinc deposit at the Mina Chica zone.

The deposit has been delineated to the northwest and is at least 150 metres long in a north-west- south-east direction. It is open to the southeast and west.

"The results from the Mina Chica zone continue to impress and it has become apparent that Mina Chica will be an important part of the overall growth of the Bongara project,” said Walchuck.

"We will have enough information from this drilling to estimate a resource even though the discovery deposit is open in several directions."

The current drill program at Mina Chica has now been completed with the final data from sampling still pending.

Shares in Zinc One eased around 2% to stand at C$0.24.

<![CDATA[News - Zinc One discovers more high-grade zinc at its Bongará mine in Peru ]]> https://ca.proactiveinvestors.com/companies/news/196484/zinc-one-discovers-more-high-grade-zinc-at-its-bongar-mine-in-peru-196484.html Zinc One Resources Inc (CVE:Z) announced on Monday that it saw yet more encouraging assays from the Mina Grande Sur zone at its Bongará Zinc Mine project in north-central Peru.

The company said on Monday that it sunk holes at 20.5 metres (m), and significant highlights included 34.3% zinc starting at surface.

Separately, assays from holes sunk at 4.7m turned up 26.1% zinc starting at surface. As part of the drill test program, holes were also sunk at 8.2m, and significant highlights included 42.7% zinc, from 7.5m drill depth.

Zinc One said the “pit sampling and historic drilling” turned up “lengthy high-grade zinc intercepts.”

“The results attest to the robustness of Mina Grande Sur,” said Zinc One CEO Jim Walchuck in a statement. “While this portion of the Mina Grande Sur drill program was designed to determine the extent of the mineralization, we have been pleasantly surprised to obtain these additional high-grade intersections.”

He added that the latest results would also contribute to the upcoming resource estimate and PEA (preliminary economic assessment), which was planned for 2018.

To date, the company has sunk 81 drill holes for 1,810.6m. At Bongarita, 36 holes were sunk for 587m, and significant highlights included 11.5m of 16% zinc, starting at surface. There was also an intersection of 29.2% zinc, starting at 5.8m drill depth.

At the Mina Grande Sur zone, where 33 holes were drilled for around 542m, assays included 4m at 32.5% zinc, starting at surface.

There was also 15 metres of 21.5% zinc, starting at 15 metres drill depth, and 9.1m at 43.6% zinc, starting at surface.

The Bongara Zinc mine was in production from 2007 to 2008, but was closed due to the global financial crisis and decrease in the zinc price.

Past production included 20% zinc grades and recoveries over 90% from surface and near-surface zinc-oxide mineralization.

Significant intercepts included hole MCH18022 – 12.7 metres of 38.0% zinc from 6.0 metres drill depth – and MCH18026 – 28.5 metres of 20.1% zine from 6.0 metres drill depth.

The drilling at Mina Chica is part of the ongoing programme that is targeting several areas of known high-grade zinc mineralisation at the project. The drill programme at Mina Chica, consisting of 53 drill holes and a total of 2,370.9 metres, has now been completed with final results pending for the remaining drill holes. Drilling at Mina Grande Sur is continuing and results are expected soon.

“The current drill programme at the Mina Chica zone continues to expand the deposit, and will potentially have a positive impact on the resource estimate at the Bongará Zinc Mine Project expected to be released in Q3 2018. Needless to say, the drill results of this discovery have greatly enhanced our understanding of the geology at Mina Chica and continue to impress us at Zinc One. We are obviously eager to see the next round of drill results,” said Jim Walchuck, the president and chief executive officer of Zinc One.

“It is an exciting new area to be potentially included in the upcoming resource estimate and underlines the potential upward scalability of the Bongara Zinc Mine project,” the company’s president and CEO Jim Walchuck said.

He added that to date, assays for only 18 of 50 holes totalling 2,070 metres drilled at Mina Chica have been reported.

Data for the remaining 32 holes will be announced once assays results have been received, checked, and compiled.

Mina Chica not so small after all

Bill Williams, COO of Zinc One added: "Our drilling results have clearly demonstrated that the high-grade zinc mineralisation forms a contiguous body, whose vertical thickness is beyond our previous expectations.

“Furthermore, zinc mineralisation has been encountered in nearly every hole drilled to date and we look forward to reporting the assays from these holes so that the magnitude of the zinc in this deposit can be properly quantified.”

Williams continued: “We look forward to the prospect of building a potentially more significant project than originally contemplated. It appears that Mina Chica may not be so small after all."

Mineralisation at Mina Chica includes zinc oxides, carbonates and silicates hosted by soils, highly-weathered carbonates, and fine- to coarse-grained dolomites.

Mina Chica is one of three known zones of high-grade, near-surface zinc-oxide mineralisation along a 1.4 kilometre mineralised trend that is being tested by this drill programme.

Very fine mineralisation, hosted by soils, has been delineated over an area of around 7,500 square metres (sq m), it added.

Highlight assays included 2.4 metres of an impressive 42.8% zinc, from 7.9 metres depth.

Another hole showed 2.4 metres of 38.1% zinc, from 1.5 metres, while another had 5.8 metres of 19.1% zinc from the surface.

"The drilling at Bongarita essentially confirmed that the amount of mineralised soils should be similar in size and grade to the historical resource," said Jim Walchuck, president and CEO at Zinc One.

"Zinc One anticipates that this drill data along with the previous pit and channel sampling data, will provide enough data to contribute to the delineation of a resource.

"The high-grade soils found at Bongarita would require very little stripping and blasting and could possibly be included in the operational startup depending on the outcome of the upcoming resource estimate."

2 portable rigs at Mina Chica and Mina Grande Sur

Bongarita is only one of the three known zones of high-grade, near-surface, zinc-oxide mineralisation along a 1.6 km trend.

The others are Mina Chica and Mina Grande Sur.

This week, the firm reported that it was encouraged by assays from first holes sunk at Mina Chica, which again confirmed high grade zinc.

The results penetrated as much as 16.5 metres of true vertical thickness with 36.5% zinc, the firm said.

At Mina Grande Sur, which is around 1.2km southeast of Bongarita, results from 11 of 60 holes drilled there have been reported so far.

Two portable rigs continue to drill at Mina Chica and Mina Grande Sur, the firm said.

The results come from six of 34 holes drilled at Mina Chica so far.

Extremely pleased with results

The results penetrated as much as 16.5 metres of true vertical thickness with 36.5% zinc, the firm said.

This means the base of mineralization at Mina Chica is potentially much deeper than previously thought.

Zinc One believes this will bolster the resource estimate at the Bongara Zinc Mine, which is anticipated to be released in the second quarter of 2018.

"We are extremely pleased with the results from the first six drill holes at Mina Chica especially in the holes which generated greater thicknesses and depth than we were anticipating," said Jim Walchuck, president and chief executive at Zinc One.

"These assays have expanded our expectations with respect to the true vertical thickness and thus the potential amount of the mineralization at Mina Chica.

"We look forward to receiving the data from the samples currently in the lab for the additional drill holes which we believe will continue this trend."

Significant intercepts included 16.5 metres of 35.6% zinc, from 15.0 metres drill depth in one hole and 18 metres of 31.0% zinc, from 20.8 metres drill depth in another.

Mina Chica is only one of three known zones of high-grade near-surface zinc oxide mineralization along a 1.6km mineralized trend that will be tested by this drill program.

At Bongarita, which lies around 200 metres west of Mina Chica, results from only 13 of 36 holes drilled there have been reported.

At Mina Grande Sur, which lies around 1.2km southeast of Mina Chica and where a second rig is currently drilling, results from only 11 of 54 holes drilled have been reported.

Shares shot up over 15% to stand at C$0.30.
