Treasury Metals (TSE:TML) can move its Goliath Gold Project in northwestern Ontario to the technical review and public comment stage after the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) approved its April 2015 Environmental Impact Statement.

Treasury’s EIS consulting team will attend the comment period, scheduled to occur in a 30-day period from April 25 to May 24, 2015, to offer technical content. Aboriginal community and the general public are also expected to attend the open house meetings, most of which will take place in the Dryden/Wabigoon area.

The provincial government will also begin its technical review of the EIS to inform the Federal Environmental Assessment, which represents an important step in the permitting phase as Treasury Metals’ moves toward production.

Two weeks ago, Treasury Metals said that the Phase II drilling program at the Goliath gold project, located near Dryden, continues to uncover high mineralization that will enable the Canadian gold developer to complete engineering plans for the feasibility study and design the open pit outline.

Last December, Treasury raised $800,000 to advance its flagship project, with a bankable feasibility study expected to be delivered during the second half of this year.

Based on a preliminary economic assessment from 2012, the Goliath project is outlined to become a combined open pit and underground operation, producing an annual average of 80,000 ounces of gold equivalent over 10 years.
