Akamai Technologies shares tread higher on news former Verizon vice-chair Frederic Salerno to take over as new chair

Conrades joined Akamai as director in 1998, shortly after the Company's founding, and was named chairman and CEO in April 1999, leading the Company's IPO later that year.

Akamai Technologies Inc.(NASDAQ:AKAM) saw its shares move higher on news that Frederic Salerno, the lead independent director and former vice chairman of Verizon Communications Inc.(NYSE:VZ) has been appointed chair with immediate effect.

In a statement, the cloud delivery company said its current chair George Conrades is retiring with effect from 1 June, at the company’s annual general meeting, after eight years leading the company.

In premarket trade, its shares were up 0.87% at US$72.81.
