NutriSystem reports US$191.3mln in second quarter

The company's bottom line came in at US$26.14mln, or US$0.87 per share

Nutrisystem, Inc. (NASDAQ:NTRI), provider of health and wellness and weight management products and services including Nutrisystem and South Beach Diet brands, today reported financial results for the quarter and six months ended June 30, 2018.

The company said earnings for its second quarter rose from last year.

The company's bottom line came in at US$26.14mln, or US$0.87 per share. This compares with US$24.44mln, or US$0.80 per share, in last year's second quarter. 

Adjusted EBITDA was US$41.0mln compared to US$42.5mln.

“We’re pleased to have exceeded second quarter guidance. Our multi-brand strategy, supported by two highly recognized names in the health and wellness industry, is working well and provides a strong, scalable platform for future growth,” said Dawn Zier, president and chief executive officer. 

Analysts had expected the company to earn US$0.81 per share.

The company's revenue for the quarter fell 1.8% to US$191.31mln from US$194.89mln last year.
