The National Hockey League (NHL) has become the latest major US sposts league to partner with gambling giant MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM) following the federal law change.
Shares in MGM are down 1.76% on the day as the ice hockey news emerged.
As part of a multi-year agreement, MGM will become the NHL’s first official betting partner.
The Nevada-based sports betting operator will also become the official resorts partner of the league.
It will also use official NHL branding across a range of its sports betting offerings within the United States.
MGM Resorts will provide customers with unique insights into every ice hockey game, while also providing fans with a greater range of betting opportunities throughout the US.
In recent months, the National Basketball Association (NBA) became the first US major sports league to go down this path. It agreed a US$25 million multi-year partnership with MGM
Resorts in July that also included the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA).
