The Crypto Report

Anthony Pompliano is a familiar face in the crypto community, especially on crypto-focused Twitter.

Pompliano, a cryptoanalyst and the founder of investment firm Morgan Creek Digital, hosts the “Off the Chain” cryptocurrency podcast.

The popular podcast has reportedly been blocked on Apple’s iTunes app and searches for the podcast aren’t working, according to a CoinDesk report. Some users have found the podcast in search results, but say it will not play and an error message is received.

The podcast is still available on Google Play, Spotify and other sites.

Apple has not yet responded to the report.

In crypto mining news, start-up Bitfury has raised a total of US$80 million in a closed funding round, as per a Cointelegraph report.

“This private placement will take our corporate governance to the next level, broaden our financial strategic options, and ideally position us for our next phase of growth as the market matures,” said executive vice chairman George Kikvadze.

Last month, Bloomberg reported that the crypto mining company may be headed for a European initial public offering.

Sources told Bloomberg that the company may raise debt financing or sell a minority stake with a potential valuation of $3 billion to $5 billion.

The Cann Report

Astronomers and laypeople alike have looked up at the stars for centuries, wondering what wonders are hidden across the final frontier. The answer to that age-old question might be a joint-shaped alien spacecraft.

A group of researchers at the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics have compiled a paper on an unidentified cigar-shaped object, according to a CNN report.

A Civilized report disagreed with the shape characterization, suggesting that any cannabis connoisseur would recognize a giant space joint when they saw one.

The object has been nicknamed “Oumuamua,” meaning "a messenger that reaches out from the distant past" in Hawaiian.

"Oumuamua may be a fully operational probe sent intentionally to Earth vicinity by an alien civilization," according to the researchers.

In other quirky cannabis news, there is a US$2,400 laser-powered bong on the market.

San Francisco-based startup Silicon Cali has created the B-LAZE LaserBong, which uses a laser to burn the cannabis, according to a Motherboard article.

The bowl of the bong is lit with a two-watt, 445 nanometer laser, which is reportedly 400 times more powerful than the average laser pointer.

"The laser is not that dangerous, it's not going to cut your finger off or anything crazy like that," said founder Justin Zelaya to Motherboard. "It may sting a little bit if you get your hand in the way but kind of like a magnifying glass."

There are 45 of the bongs available, but you may want to take extra precautions if you intend to purchase one. The company also sells special glasses to protect your eyes.
