Hardey Resources Ltd (ASX:HDY) has returned anomalous gold results of up to 24.51 g/t gold and 6.88 g/t in geological field reconnaissance undertaken at its Cheela Plains project in WA

A total of 23 grab samples were collected along the 4 kilometres of strike at Cheela’s Big Sarah West prospect and analysed for gold and base metals.

A small-scale gold mining operation can be found within the excised mining lease at Big Sarah and a traverse conducted along a 5-kilometre stretch of a northwest-southeast trend from Big Sarah observed regular quartz veining.

Veins were relatively thin between 5-10 centimetres but were often present in sets up to 10 metres wide and hosted within altered country rock.

Along with sericite alteration, disseminated sulphides and silicification were observed around vein margins and within the country rock.

Prior to the field program, Hardey’s geological consultants Cadre Geology and Mining conducted an extensive review of historic reports and available data for the area.

This work highlighted potential for gold and base metals mineralisation near the Big Sarah and Slate Bore prospects.

On site, reconnaissance was limited to the area surrounding the excised mining lease covering Big Sarah due to pastoral activity preventing access to Slate Bore.

Historic work completed mainly by Aberfoyle Resources at Slate Bore showed significant gold, arsenic and lead anomalies in the area.

Further work was recommended after Aberfoyle’s RAB drilling failed to explain the anomaly but increased its size and quality to the west through further sampling.
