Dunnedin Ventures encouraged by first exploration results at MPD, which show potential for large system

Dunnedin Ventures Inc (CVE:DVI) has welcomed first exploration results from its MPD copper-gold porphyry project in British Columbia, which show the potential for a large mineral system.

The firm carried out mapping, prospecting, sampling and resampling of historic trenches with initial work consisting of 93 rock chip samples covering 127 metres of aggregate strike length in the so-called 'Man' area of the property.

The results will be used in a bid to characterize the porphyry system at MPD and to inform upcoming drilling.

Porphyry deposits are very large underground systems that typically contain copper and other metals. They can be several thousand feet in diameter.

"Our first results from resampling historic trenches at MPD have confirmed strong mineralization over significant widths at surface, occurring within the preferred porphyritic host rocks," Claudia Tornquist, the CEO of Dunnedin noted in a statement.

"Results from this field work is extremely encouraging and correlate well with historic results that suggest potential for a large, under-explored mineralized system at MPD. We are excited to expand our efforts to make meaningful discoveries on this project as the year progresses."

Highlight assays from the historical trenches include 0.89% copper and 0.04 grams per ton (g/t) gold over 46 metres (m), including 1.83% copper and 0.08 g/t gold over 12m. There was also 0.57% copper and 3.26 g/t gold over 7 metres.

Notably, the MPD project's geology has many similar characteristics to nearby alkalic porphyry systems at the Copper Mountain Mine to the south, and New Gold's New Afton Mine to the north, the firm noted.

More results to come

Further exploration results expected from the project include a 200-sample soil survey covering around 800 by 1,000 metres designed to augment existing geochemical data in the Man target area and the findings from 48 rock samples.

"We selected the MPD project because it has key characteristics that could lead to a low-cost new discovery," said Chris Taylor, chairman of the board at Dunnedin.

These are mainly excellent infrastructure access which helps cut costs, more than 100 historical drill holes and trenches that define a 10 sq km, multi-zoned mineralized system, he added. "As a Dunnedin shareholder, I very much look forward to what our upcoming drill program could bring."
