Cloud Nine Education Group Ltd (CSE:CNI) (OTCMKTS:CLGUF) announced Thursday that it is boosting its business development team to tap into demand for its English as a second language services in Latin America.
The Vancouver-based company has hired Dr Elsa Perez as its corporate director of business development responsible for greater Latin America and Mexico.
Latin America is now the fourth-largest education technology market in the world in terms of revenue, with expectations for the e-learning market to generate revenue of over US$3 billion by 2023, according to recent data by Education First.
“We fully expect that Dr Perez's deep relationships and industry connections will open up major opportunities in Mexico and Latin America that can add millions of dollars to our monthly recurring revenue,” said Allan Larmour, CEO of Cloud Nine.
"As we mobilize to gain a strong foothold in these fundamental territories, we consider teaming up with such a highly respected and notable individual in the language acquisition market, an invaluable asset in building a dominant presence."
With a PhD in Applied Linguistics, Dr Perez also boasts a Master’s degree in higher education and a bachelor’s degree specializing in teaching English as a second language.
Dr Perez’s addition will be a “highly valuable turning point” for Cloud Nine as it expands throughout Latin America and Mexico, Lamour said. The professor will be based in Mexico.
"Cloud Nine's cloud-based digital ESL curriculum platform is an excellent platform for instructors teaching beginning to advanced English,” Dr Perez said in a statement.
“I have seen a number of digital platforms on the market and I find this one to be one of the most robust, user-friendly, and comprehensive systems for English instruction.
“I am very excited to be part of the Cloud Nine team, and knowing the market, I feel I can contribute significantly to the growth and further development of the corporate structure in Mexico and Latin America."
