TruTrace Technologies Inc (CVE:TTT) (OTCMKTS:BKKSF), the developer of the first blockchain platform to track intellectual property in the cannabis sector, has forged a partnership with Clever Leaves, a producer of medical cannabis and hemp, which is set to join its StrainSecure platform.
TruTrace’s StrainSecure platform will allow Clever Leaves to collect, register and track data for its cannabis plant DNA and strains and also keep tabs on its shipments across the Canadian market.
“Clever Leaves is on track to become a major international supplier, and we are pleased to provide our full support of their initiatives at this early stage of their expected growth,” said TruTrace CEO Robert Galarza in a statement.
TruTrace’s StrainSecure platform allows growers and breeders to identify and secure rights to their IP while streamlining admin and reducing the costs for genetic and mandatory quality-control testing for legal cannabis. The fact is that consumers and regulators both want to know whether a cannabis product sold at a dispensary is safe and meets quality control standards.
This proprietary technology establishes a single-source, accurate, validated and permanent account for cannabis strains, from ownership to market.
Andres Fajardo, president of Clever Leaves, was equally enthusiastic about the adoption of the StrainSecure platform.
“We are committed to establishing full transparency and traceability of our strains. This is especially important for medical cannabis, where clinical outcomes and research conclusions are dependent on a level of consistency that can only come from being able to track a product’s origin,” said Fajardo in a statement.
Earlier this year, Clever Leaves became the first company permitted by Health Canada to import cannabis from Colombia into Canada.
