WeedMD Inc (CVE:WMD) (OTCMKTS:WDDMF), the medical cannabis group, is bolstering its management by tapping Tricia Symmes as the general manager of its key subsidiary - CX Industries.
In her new post, Symmes will take the helm of CX Industries’ commercial operations and also oversee the development of its business channels and the introduction of additional cannabis products.
CX Industries is WeedMD's fully-owned subsidiary that focuses on extraction and processing and operates out of WeedMD’s extraction hub in Aylmer, Ontario.
Also signing on at CX is Logan Marynissen, who will serve as the company’s director of extraction.
“With Tricia’s commercial acumen, deep understanding of P&L structures and medical cannabis oversight, and Logan’s rich experience in varied extraction methodologies, they are perfectly suited to lead CX,” said Keith Merker, WeedMD’s CEO.
CX’s goal is to produce cannabis products, which boast particularly high margins and range from concentrates and sprays to topicals. When the company hits peak production next year and has four machines in operation, CX will be able to extract and process 200,000 kgs of cannabis biomass per year.
Symmes, who holds an MBA from Charles Strut University and a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with Honors from Western University, was most recently the chief operating officer of Acerus Pharmaceuticals. Marynissen, meanwhile, joins CX after spending the last four years overseeing Canopy Growth’s extraction operations in Smith Falls, Ontario.
