Minera Alamos hails encouraging drill findings at Santana gold project; completes initial water well testing

All 3 holes drilled into Divisadero have confirmed the presence of wide intervals of disseminated gold-silver mineralization

Minera Alamos Inc (CVE:MAI) (OTCMKTS:MAIFF) reported positive drill findings from its Santana gold mine project in Mexico, which showed significant widespread mineralization at the Divisadero area, which was discovered last year.

Phase 2 drilling continues and Minera expects up to 3,000 metres (m) of drilling to be completed in each quarter of 2020.

"The Santana property mineralization is hosted within a series of well-defined breccia pipes, only two of which have been drill tested in any significant manner," said Darren Koningen, the chief executive at Minera Alamos.

"In 2018, the company drilled one of these previously untested targets near the currently planned starter operations resulting in a significant new discovery, called Divisadero. This new discovery provided Minera Alamos with increased confidence that the overall project area may contain multiple Nicho-style mineralization centres that are easily accessible from surface."

Now the firm has sunk two holes to confirm local continuity of this mineralization and has confirmed the presence of Nicho-style gold values over "considerable thicknesses in an area that appears to remain open in multiple directions".

All three holes now drilled into Divisadero have confirmed the presence of wide intervals of disseminated gold-silver mineralization, it said.

Water-well drilling

Also in Thursday's statement, the company updated on its water well drilling, which will service the mining operation start-up.

The firm is currently working to expand the diameter of one hole to 10 inches, to insert a permanent well casing ahead of a full-scale pumping test to verify the continuous water inflow capacity and the ultimate water drawdown elevation.

"These details will then be utilized to design/construct the final pumping system for the project," said Minera.

Looking ahead, the firm said there should be a "steady flow of drilling news while construction moves forward including the maiden drilling of a number of the new breccia pipe exploration targets identified in the field during 2019".
