Daimler - NexTech inks new augmented reality deal with firearm maker Steyr Arms USA
Steyr Arms said an investment in augmented reality is an ideal way to connect with people who are browsing the company's products online

NexTech AR Solutions Corp (OTCMKTS:NEXCF) (CSE:NTAR) said Wednesday that it has signed a contract to provide augmented reality technology to Steyr Arms USA, a top global firearms manufacturer.

Steyr has been a pioneer in the firearms industry for over 150 years and now supplies products to over 50 of the world's militaries.

With NexTech’s technology, Steyr Arms customers will be able to view firearms online in full 3D before making a purchase.

NexTech will initially supply Steyr with its sophisticated cross-platform cross-browser WebAR solutions.

Bethany White, director of marketing at Steyr Arms USA, said that the firearms manufacturer made a beeline for NexTech after seeing what it has been able to accomplish with other manufacturers.

“We believe that an investment in augmented reality is an ideal way to connect with people who are browsing our products online; building high levels of confidence in a purchase through one of our dealers,” said White.

“Our goal is to be a competitive name within a small pool of performance leading brands, and with NexTech AR we will have the tools we need to lead the charge in the ever-growing ecommerce sectors of this industry," she added.

The ubiquitous Steyr AUG is the NATO bullpup assault rifle designed in the 1960s by Steyr-Daimler-Puch. In 1864, Josef Werndl founded a company in a sawmill that grew into Steyr Arms. Since then, the company has undergone many changes as old-world craftsmanship has gradually made way for precision computer-driven machines. Steyr is famous for its cold-hammer-forged barrels, and focus on innovation, precision, and reliability.

NexTech AR Solutions Evan Gappelberg said the company was “thrilled” to sign up yet another major brand in the firearms industry to its Web AR platform, enabling them to showcase their products in rich, photo-realistic 3D/AR.

“We expect to deliver the 3D/AR models shortly which will be viewable on the homepage of their website soon,” said Gappelberg.

“With this deal, we are continuing to execute on our stated business plan of signing up early adopters in augmented reality and then moving them through our product offerings which include: WebAR, AR for training and education and AR for 3D advertising.”

Gappelberg said NexTech’s customers were excited to join NexTech as “first movers” in the fast-growing augmented reality and virtual reality markets.

NexTech, based in New York and Toronto, offers AR for e-commerce, AR in Chat, an ARitize App, AR University for education and “V-commerce,” an in-store virtual reality experience.
