American Battery Metals Corporation (OTCQB:ABML) announced Tuesday it is bringing on former Tesla construction manager Chuck Leber as its lead onsite project manager.

The move comes as the Nevada-based company looks to build out its battery recycling plant, of which Leber will lead onsite construction and development.

Leber has over 40 years of experience constructing complex industrial processing facilities, most recently as a construction manager at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Nevada.

Both Leber and Ryan Melsert, ABM’s chief technical officer, worked together at the Gigafactory. Melsert told investors that Leber and his team were “crucial” in bringing Melsert’s team’s complex designs to reality.

Bringing Leber to ABM as it moves to construct its first pilot plant “isn't a coincidence,” according to Melsert.

“Chuck and I worked very closely together at the Gigafactory and he played a large role in ensuring the success of each of our projects,” Melsert said in a statement.

“Many of the systems my team and I developed began from a blank page design and we worked to evolve these projects through conceptual design, rigorous thermodynamic modeling, empirical bench optimizations, and pilot scale validations. As we moved each project beyond the design phase and into commercial implementation, Chuck and his construction team were crucial in working to bridge the gap between a final system design and an installed, commissioned, and high reliability system."

ABM’s CEO Doug Cole expressed excitement at Leber’s addition to the team. “The timing of Chuck joining our team is ideal, as we proceed to the next phase of building-out our facility, receiving delivery of and assembling our commercial scale processing equipment, and integrating our utility infrastructure systems."

For his part, Leber told shareholders that he is looking forward to putting his four decades of experience to use at ABM.

“It's a privilege to be a part of the work we are doing as a company to positively impact the battery industry and improve the recycling of waste," Leber told shareholders in a statement.
