Greatland Gold PLC - Greatland Gold appoints Shaun Day as new CEO as Heddle moves on
Greatland has just published a 4.2mln ounce resource for Havieron

Greatland Gold PLC (LON:GGP) has appointed Shaun Day as its new chief executive to replace Gervaise Heddle, who is leaving to follow other interests.

Day will take over and join the board February 8, 2021 with Heddle to remain a part of the executive team until March 12, 2021, to ensure a smooth transition.

An accountant with twenty years of experience in mining and infrastructure Day is currently chief financial officer of AIM and ASX listed Salt Lake Potash Ltd (ASX:SO4) (LON:SO4).

Prior to that, he spent five years as CFO of Northern Star Resources, an ASX100 company and a global-scale Australian gold producer. During his time at the business, Northern Star increased in market value to A$8bn from A$700mln.

Day also spent five years as CFO of Indonesia-based coal group Sakari, a period that included its listing on the Singapore stock exchange.

Alex Borrelli, Greatland Gold's chairman, paid tribute to Heddle who he said was instrumental in acquiring the company-making Havieron project and in negotiating the subsequent farm-in and partnership with Newcrest.

“Under his leadership, the team at Greatland has delivered exceptional value creation for shareholders. He leaves Greatland in a strong financial position and with a clear strategy in place for the potential development of Havieron towards commercial production,“ the chairman said in a statement.

Borelli added that he was also delighted to have secured Shaun Day as Heddle's replacement and noted that he brings extensive industry and regional experience as well as capital markets expertise.

Gervaise Heddle commented: “With Havieron now at a key inflection point, with both an Initial Inferred Mineral Resource estimate in place and, subject to required approvals, the construction of the box cut and decline due to commence shortly, I feel now is the natural point for me to hand over the running of the company to someone who can progress it to the next level”.
