Deutsche Bank -

HANetf, the European ‘white label’ issuer of exchange-traded funds (ETFs), has appointed an industry heavyweight to beef up its senior management team as it looks to continue rolling out funds at a rapid pace.

Manooj Mistry, who oversaw the launch of over 400 ETFs and other exchange-traded products as head of what was originally Deutsche Bank’s Xtrackers business, will join as chief operating officer next month.

He will lead the product development, operational and regulatory aspects for the firm, which recently topped US$2bn in assets under management, reporting to HANetf’s co-chief executive Nik Bienkowski.

“Manooj joins us at a time of rapid expansion for the HANetf’s full service white-label platform and we are thrilled to have on-board his deep expertise and knowledge of building successful ETF businesses,” Bienkowski said.

He noted that Mistry launched the Xtrackers exchange-traded product (ETP) business at Deutsche Bank in 2007 and as CEO of DWS Investments UK and head of DWS's ETFs and index investing business, helped lead it to become the number two ETP provider in Europe.

Bienkowski said the new COO has developed and launched many ETPs that were the first of their kind, “and his wealth of experience will be intrinsic in helping lead the way as we take HANetf from high growth, new entrant in the ETF space, to an ETF issuer with a deep product offering – one which will be the first multi-manager ETF platform in the world”.

He said the appointment showed HANetf is “developing into a formidable European ETF player” and was part of the long-term goal to “build a ‘periodic table’ of ETP offerings across ESG, thematic, smart beta, active and niche strategies, covering the asset classes of equities, bonds, commodities and alternatives”.
